The month of May =)

The month of May!

Hello! How have you been?
The month of May has been a very exciting month for all of us! We had our usual CK Malachi BS, CKS Roman BS and an outing to the Bishan Park!
For our Malachi BS,
We are at Malachi 3:13 now! and Malachi 3 verse 16 and 17 is the tipping point of the book of Malachi. Since the beginning in Malachi 1, we have been rebuked dauntlessly, and despite of all these sadness… we read of something that is surprising and positive in verse 16 and 17.

Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared theLord, and that thought upon his name.

17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

God have no need to write that book of remembrance… He was almighty and powerful… Yet he wrote it for the sake of His elect! God want us to know that He remember us. Our sufferings on this earth is not forgotten and we needed this assurance from God. It serve as a reminder of the days to come, and an encouragement to those who are faithful. My friends, don’t you find this amazing? =)

For our Roman CKS BS,

We are at Romans 13! Pastor Lanning led the bible studies and in addition to Romans 13, we read one of our treasured confessions: The Belgic Confession. We read on the article, concerning the Magistrate. Below is the article.

Article 36; Concerning the Magistrate.

We believe that our good God,2 because of the depravity of mankind, has appointed kings, princes, and magistrates; willing that the world should be governed by certain laws and policies; to the end that the dissoluteness of men might be restrained, and all things carried on among them with good order and decency. For this purpose He has placed the sword in the hand of the magistate, for the punishment of evil doers and for the defense of them that do well.3

[For their office is not only to have regard unto and watch for the welfare of the [civil] polity,4 but also to maintain the true sacred ministry;5 and thus may remove and prevent all idolatry and false worship; that the kingdom of anti-Christ may be thus destroyed and the kingdom of Christ promoted.]6

They must therefore countenance the preaching of the Word of the gospel everywhere, that God may be honored and worshipped by every one, as He commands in His Word.

Moreover, it is the bound duty of every one, of whatever state, quality, or condition he may be, to subject himself to the magistrates; to pay tribute, to show due honor and respect to them, and to obey them in all things which are not repugnant to the Word of God; to supplicate for them in their prayers that God may rule and guide them in all their ways, and that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity.

Wherefore we detest the Anabaptists and other seditious people, and in general all those who reject the higher powers and magistrates and would subvert justice, introduce community of goods, and confound that decency and good order which God has established among men.

It is a very interesting session as we discussed on the calling of our earthly governments. One of the controversial discussion we had is “Is the maintenance of the sacred ministry one of their main callings?”

After a lengthy discussion, and with Pastor Lanning as the moderator. We came to the conclusion that it is not, but our earthly government should not stop us from worshiping Jehovah either. Interesting isn’t it?

We yearn for your fellowship if you have been missing out on CKCKS activities. We hope all is well with you.

With Love
