The Month of June

Dear friends,

Your long awaited June post is here! How have you been doing anyway? Have you been reading and meditating on the word of God? =) June is one of our favourite months! As it is always packed with fun and spiritually edifying activities!

In the month of June, we had a workshop conducted by Pastor Lanning. The topic that was discussed was on Movies and the Reformed Faith. Pastor Lanning was clear, and he set out clear reasons why a Reformed Christian should not be watching movies. Some of the reasons are:

  1. Many Hollywood movies portray and glamorise lifestyle that is contrary to God’s command in His word. Violence, sex, hatred, vanity, God-less lifestyle are the few main themes of a movie.
  2. We should seek to use our time wisely, and pursue an entertainment that is not productive!
  3. We may be desensitised to sin by assuming sins portrayed in movies are the norm.

If you do watch movies, and enjoy watching them… maybe it is time to reconsider your priorities!

In this month, we had our annual CK and CKS Retreat! Did you know, this year’s retreat is our very first CK and CKS combined retreat? The theme of this year’s retreat is on the Importance of Reading cum Church Unity! Aaron Lim and Jonathan Langerak are our speaker!

The guys from church!

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Hosea 4:6

The word of God warn us the importance of knowledge(which we can gain from reading good Christian literature). Have you read today?

Remember, every day requires prayer!
