The month of August

Dear friends =)
Workshop- reformed perspective on gaming

In the Workshop on the Reformed Perspective on Gaming, we discussed and concluded with the following statements.
The development of gaming platforms caused gaming to be more accessible for us. Furthermore, games are becoming more graphic, sensual, vulgar, violent, realistic and time-consuming.
Our calling is thus presented.
We know the device (gaming) of Satan to tempt us to sin. So “abstain from all appearance of evil” (1 Thess 5:22), “lest Satan should get an advantage of us” (2 Cor 2:11). And entice us to become “…fierce, despisers of those that are good…” (2 Tim 3:3), etc.
As stewards of the God-given gifts of time, abilities, electronic devices and everything we are and possess, we ought to seek to use our all to the service and glory of His Name, humbly and faithfully.
Let us be holy, even as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15, 16). May God grant us grace to choose the better alternative and preserve the Truth for the generations to come.
PS. I do not mean that all games are bad and evil. God gives us wisdom and godly counsels for wise discernments. So discuss it with your friends and comment to share below! Some of the discussion questions also include if we as Christians can be professional gamers, or if firsthand shooting games are permissible for us too.

2. Mal bs
Once again, the CKers continued their study on the book of Malachi and we are at the last chapter of the book! God mentioned in Mal 4:5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:”

Elijah, the prophet of God, was renowned for his works. He was one of the greatest prophet, a well-known prophet that even children at that age would recognize his name. Even though he was not the prophet who did the most number of miracles, he was still a prominent member.

And he is a picture of Jesus Christ, the Great Prophet. In that verse God assures His people that He will send salvation. Thank God that we can be reminded of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, and our salvation in Him. May God receive all glory, honor and praise!

4. Roman’s Bible Studies
This Romans Bible Study, we went through Romans 15:1-7. We were reminded of how we ought to love our neighbour, especially those who are weaker.
We were called to deny ourselves.
To “bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves” (vs1).
To “please his neighbor for his good to edification” as Jesus did (vs 2, 3).
To “receive ye one another as Christ also received us to the glory of God.” (vs 7).
The goal is such, that “ye (referring to the church) may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Isn’t that our desire too? I pray so and continue to pray that the Lord will grant all of us grace to love one another.
